Most of these photos were taken on 19 May, 2010,
in the hours following the the military operation to shut down the "Red Shirt" occupation of the Rachaprasong
Intersection, a major shopping and hotel district in central Bangkok. Chances are that no signs of these demonstrations and their aftermath will remain when you visit Bangkok. By the time I visited
the protest site and it surrounding area, crews were already at work mopping up
to return the area to order. Thailand is normally a peaceful place. The purpose of these photos is to show what happened
without indulging in the same hype as most television coverage, and to remind you how destructive people can be when they are controlled by a despotic leader. Unless otherwise noted, all photos are
